Wales Ambassador Scheme
The award-winning online Ambassador Scheme provides people with training and knowledge about the special qualities of areas in Wales. It’s totally free and open to everyone and it’s a great way to deepen your appreciation of a place and learn more about its unique characteristics. A series of online modules on a variety of themes is offered. This includes Welsh language, communities, coast, heritage & history, landscapes, sustainable tourism, cycling and walking. There are 3 levels of awards – bronze, silver and gold, depending on the number of modules completed. Rewards including certificates and badges are sent to everyone who completes the levels.
Denbighshire was the first to launch an online course of its kind in Wales. Eryri and Bannau Brycheiniog National Parks, Isle of Anglesey, Gwynedd, Conwy, Flintshire, Wrexham and Carmarthenshire have since launched courses. Ambassadors are actively encouraged to sign up to multiple courses to extend their learning about Wales and be part of a wider community. North Wales Mountain Rescue Association
The umbrella organisation for search and rescue in North Wales formed in May 1973. A registered charity, funded solely by voluntary contributions – their nine member teams cover the entire North Wales region, one of the busiest regions in the UK.
Mountain rescue teams are called out through the police, via the 999 system, to assist the statutory services. NWMRA works in partnership with the North Wales Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service, North Wales Fire and Rescue Service and the Coastguard Rescue Helicopter to provide a volunteer-led 24/7 rescue service.
